Food Service for Lakeshore Families

On August 31, 2020, the USDA granted a waiver to extend access to free meals for students at school. The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue stated “As our nation reopens and
people return to work it remains critical our children continue to receive safe, healthy, and nutritious food.” This will continue until December 31, 2020.

All Lakeshore students are eligible to receive 1 free breakfast and 1 free lunch each on regularly scheduled school days. These two free meals must contain the necessary items that would qualify for reimbursement.  Therefore, a la carte does not qualify.  In addition, if a second meal or drink is requested (typically High School) then these meals and/or drinks are available to purchase at regular prices.  If you bring your lunch and want to purchase a drink, these are available for $.60 cents.

This waiver also applies to Virtual students who are eligible to receive 1 free breakfast and 1 free lunch.  Pick up is at the High School on Mondays (for 3 breakfasts and 3 lunches) and Wednesday (for 2 breakfasts and 2 lunches). The time for pick up is 5 p.m.-6 p.m. Please wear a mask and social distance when receiving these meals.

Please continue to fill out free/reduced meal applications as the District needs to know who may qualify for free or reduced meals as this waiver ends December 31, 2020. In addition, free/reduced meal applications are used for various grants and other programs such as the EBT cards.
